However, when it comes to integration into emails, things get complicated. Indeed, the integration of a video is not done natively. And many thus give up integrating them in their campaigns, wrongly?

1- TRANSFORM YOUR SHORT VIDEO INTO A GIF TO INTEGRATE IT INTO THE EMAIL AS AN IMAGE

The simplest and most effective trick is to convert your video. As long as it is short into an animated GIF. It will then be integrated as a classic image in your emailing campaign.

The advantage of this option is to make your video content accessible directly. The body of your email with an experience is quite similar to that of a video.

The disadvantages of this method, however, are that:

The GIF will play automatically as soon as the email is opened and loaded. Therefore, this method is suitable for a video that you want to place at the top of a newsletter for example. Or a short video for which this does not pose too much problem of seeing it replay.
So the GIF implies that the video will automatically replay. And that no controls pause / forward / rewind will be available.
The GIF will not be able to embed any sound. This technique is therefore interesting if you want to send a video message. And the text is for example integrated into your video.

2- EMBED THE VIDEO IN YOUR EMAIL VIA AN ATTACHMENT

This method is by far the fastest. You just need to add your video like any other attachment (if you use emailing software, you just have to make sure that this option is offered by the tool). Most alternatives to Mailchimp in French offer this type of option for example. Video Email Marketing is one of them.

The disadvantages of this method are that:

The video is displayed at the bottom of the email and is dissociated from the body of the text: this point can be countered by inviting in the body of the email to view the attachment
Video size should be compressed to the maximum as attachments are often limited to a final size of only 20-25MB

3- SIMULATE THE INTEGRATION OF THE VIDEO IN THE EMAIL VIA AN IMAGE WITH INTEGRATED PLAYER

This method, just as easy to set up, consists of using an image of your choice (preferably linked to the video) on which you will add, via Photoshop or other, a player icon to simulate with the Internet user that by clicking, the video will launch in the email.

Once the visual is ready, all you have to do is integrate it like any other image with the addition of the URL to redirect to the video.

In reality, on click, the video will launch but on YouTube for example (as long as you have integrated the video on YouTube and that you include the link to YouTube on this image in your emailing).

3- SIMULATE THE INTEGRATION OF THE VIDEO IN THE EMAIL VIA AN IMAGE WITH INTEGRATED PLAYER

This method, just as easy to set up, consists of using an image of your choice. So preferably linked to the video on which you will add, via Photoshop or other, a player icon to simulate with the Internet user that by clicking, the video will launch in the email that is Video Email Marketing.

Once the visual is ready, all you have to do is integrate it like any other image with the addition of the URL to redirect to the video.

You can of course also redirect to your site using this method. And bring the user directly to the video via a link anchor system. It ideally coupled with the integration of the YouTube video with the “autoplay” function. So the latter is launched automatically when the user arrives and that the latter therefore has no additional clicks to perform.

4- EMBED A VIDEO IN HTML5 IN YOUR EMAILING

If this solution is the “cleanest” and will allow all mailboxes that support HTML5 to integrate a video viewable entirely from the email and the mailbox, it is not the easiest since it is appropriate to master HTML at a minimum and to have access to the source code from your emailing software (most allow it normally).

The other negative point of this method of adding video via HTML5. The video tag is that not all mailboxes support this type of integration. So you risk offering a slightly degraded emailing experience for all your customers/prospects/readers who will use a mailbox that does not support HTML5.

5- REDIRECT INTERNET USERS TO A VIDEO FROM YOUR EMAIL VIA A SIMPLE LINK

If all the above methods seem complicated to you to set up, you can always opt for the simplest of them. It consists of simply redirecting Internet users to your video from a link. Then it embedded in the text of your email or from any image you want. This is Video Email Marketing.

Although this option is not the most optimized for user experience, it is the easiest way to embed video indirectly in any email. Even when you don’t have access to the code. EG: if you use Gmail to send emails and not a dedicated emailing software.
